Josh Leads the Way
Kettering CC’s Josh Monger went over to the King’s Cliffe Fyer’s Time Trial on May 4th and came back with his first ever win.
A two-inch layer of loose chippings deposited late on Tuesday afternoon between Apethorpe and Woodnewton made running the King’s Cliffe standard ten mile TT impossible. So Mark McVitty made the decision to race over the short lap and over the nasty climb to drop back past the starting point. This gave the riders the option of 6.55 miles or 13.1 for two laps. Even this course faced a mile of new gravel between Woodnewton and the Oundle turn which was passable, but needed care.
Josh put his mountain biking skills to good use for a win over the highly talented Kristian Woolf of the host club, by 7 seconds.
