Wicksteed's Park, Cycle Racing on Friday 2nd July
Cycle racing is returning to Wicksteed’s Park (well at least for one night only on Friday July 2nd). The racing is back on the track at part of the park’s celebration of ‘The Way We Were’ festival. It will be fantastic to see the old track in action again concentrating on 'Retro' bikes and clothing to fit the
period of the Park back in the 50's and 60's. Plus plenty of opportunities for the youngsters to get on board, and race too.
The proposed formula is as follows:
6.00pm. General Ride around the track concentrating on Families, with their children.
7.00pm Veterans Ride featuring 'Retro' riders, bikes, and clothes.
7.30pm Demostration 4 team pursuit ride involving Team Members of local clubs.
8.00pm Individual Pursuit Rides to be timed hoping to break the old track record.
8.30pm General Ride for everybody with a collective Photo Shoot for the local press.
9.00pm Prize Giving for the best bike, the oldest bike, and the coolest youngsters
The Master of Ceramonies on the Track P.A. will be Pete Jinks ( Rockingham Wheelers Wheelers and ex Disc Jockey )
who will keep everyone informed of the activities and will be part of the judging panel.
The Cycle Track has been passed for safety reasons and is in good condition for riding.
There will be fun fair activities for all the family and the event is being held right next to
the Beer Festival Event which is being held in a Marquee next to the track.
Live Music in the Beer Tent is being presented by 'Wrinkle Rock'
The evening promises to be a fantastic night of cycling for all age groups and their families.
It would be fabulous if your retrospective clubs could support us and make it a cracking night.
