Kettering CC dominate at Wicksteed's
Kettering CC dominated the racing at Wicksteed Park on Friday 2nd July, despite being heavily outnumbered by Rockingham Forest Wheelers.
Robin Bellamy won the inaugural event, some 30 odd years after the last race at the venue in Kettering. The first event being the Devils in which Robin won the sprint ahead of three Rocko riders. Stuart Walters then wrapped up the evening with a win in the points series. Inbetween Rocko beat Kettering in the four man pursuit.
Not only was there racing, but also a show of some of the original bikes used in the 50’s 60’s and 70’s, as they rode and raced around the track. Plus there was a chance for the youngsters to get on the track and enjoy themselves on the evening.
Many thanks to all those who made the racing possible, especially Bib Wetherall, Vic Davies, Norman Needham and Rowland Summerlin for all their hard work. Let’s hope this is the first of many appearances of the track for either racing/training, or for the youngsters' Go-Ride events.
