No ImageI have been a member of Kettering Cycling Club for about twelve years. I sometimes marshal and help assist with time keeping at club events. I used to be the club Touring Officer. I was a Chartered Engineer before retiring and used to enjoy playing squash at County level, tennis club games and football club matches.

I have been interested in cycling for over sixty years; it was a very important sport to the working class in the 40’s and 50’s. I have a great love of cycling and enjoy the friendship, fresh air and countryside. My favourite cycling run is the Abergwesyn Mountain Road (Beulah to Tregaron, the smallest town in Ceredigion).

I am most interested in touring, hostelling and cycling abroad. I was an early member of the Thursday Club. I remember my first race being agony! When I was 16 years old when I did a short 27 minutes on a 10 miles course with a dead turn in the road! I never did time trials again and this first race turned out to be my best cycling performance. Instead I rode some British League of Racing Cyclists Junior races with reasonable results. The 168 miles from Droitwich to Wetherby on the old roads is the longest distance I have ridden. I no longer have a sporting ambition other than just to continue cycling.

Percy Stallard (deceased) is the cyclist I most admired. My favourite food is three fish pie and Red bush and Green tea are my favourite drinks. In the future in the UK I would like to have equal rights on our roads and for Britain to win the Tour De France.
