I have been a member of Kettering Friendly/KCC for about 44 years. I used to be responsible for the club cups and trophies and have organised road races for KAM and NCR. I was a precision engineer before retiring and used to cycle to my work. Before cycling I used to enjoy good success in swimming and was once the All London School Champion and Area Scouts Champion.
I have always been interested in cycling and have cycled for 73 years (57 years racing). I have competed in road racing, time trials, some track and one cyclo-cross. Road racing is my all time favourite discipline. I remember my first race, in 1952, being a 25 mile race in Inverness where I did a 1-09-08. I can’t recall any outstanding performances other than obtaining my pb in a ‘50’ when most people were ten minutes slower than usual!
Aside from cycling I enjoy fishing and building model aeroplanes.
